Watch it Wednesday

A little Bach recap from this week:
  • Well, I think I should just stop putting people in my top list for the Bachelorette, because every time I do they get sent home.  Or, maybe I should put the guys I don't like in my top, and hope that the bad luck trend continues so they get sent home.
  • I was sad to see Brad leave.  He seemed like such a sweet guy, but definitely too quiet for Des.
  • The Mr. Beauty Pageant was nice, and when I say nice, I mean nice to look at.
  • Evidently, this season of the Bachelorette is one of the lowest rated seasons ever.  I wonder if it is because people are just tired of the same old drama and story.  It's like watching the movie "The Hangover" continuously.  Or is it because Des is boring.  I do like that she is normal and down to earth, but maybe people want someone with a little more personality.  Either way, I'll still be watching.
  • Why is Bryden being a baby and threatening to go home.  That bugs me.  You lost brownie points dude.  And did you just love that twitter comment that said, "Seriously Bryden, the Breaking Amish look is not working for you."  Hahaha!
  • Zak W. and his guitar song to Des...I hope I never have to hear or watch that again.
  • Sad Converse guy Zack K. went home, but he wasn't really a front runner for Des romantically.
  • I love how Chris (my final and last hope in my top 3) joked about being in the "friend zone".  I think the best relationships start as great friendships, and you can totally see that they have friend chemistry and romantic chemistry.  I think Chris is the one to beat right now.
Also, True Blood started up again last week.  Now Sunday night's are something to look forward to.

Watch it Wednesday

I'm excited for the new Superman movie, Man of Steel, coming out on Friday.  It's been a while since a good Superman movie has been made.  The last few have been pretty lame.  I have high hopes for Man of Steel since Henry Cavill is Superman.  He is pretty hot, so even if the movie sucks, it really won't. The preview looks really good.  Are you going to see Man of Steel this weekend?

Let's talk this weeks Bach.  What did you think?
  • I am failing miserably at my top 3 predictions, since 2 of them left last night.  Dan and Brian are both gone.  Sad for Dan, but he was quiet so his loss.  I was a little sad for Brian at first when his ex-girlfriend girlfriend showed up.  In the beginning of all that drama, I thought that she could just be a psycho girl from his past trying to sabotage him and get her 15 minutes of fame on TV.  But thennnnn he admitted to sleeping with her a few days before the show, and I immediately did not feel sorry for him anymore.  What a scumbag.  I'm so glad Des kicked him to the curb.
  • The group dates were nothing special, but I was happy to see my last (and only now) top 3 pick, Chris, get the rose.  What a romantic taking Des to the roof and being so casual about it.  I like him.
  • Fabio, I mean Brooks, got injured.  Get well. XOXO
  • Soccer Stud, Juan Pablo, worked it like a champ on the group date.  Sexy.  Seriously though, just look at these pics.  If I ever get the opportunity to be in a movie, I am requesting it to be a western.
  • I was happy to see that #Kasey did not use any hashtags on his date.  It bumped him up a level in my book.  He seems nice enough and it sucks his date was rainy and lame, but he made the best of it and was a good sport.
  • What?!  Brandon didn't get a rose?  What a non-shocker!  The romantic chemistry just was not there, and Des realized it as soon as she kissed those "guard and protect your heart" lips.
  • Since my top three is now a top 1, I have to re-evaluate.  I still like shoe-tie guy Chris, but I am going to add in Shy Guy Brad (who evidently isn't too shy since he is a club DJ on the side). Welcome Brad.  I like that he protected his kid enough to wait until he got to know Des a little before mentioning he was a dad.  I also like his smile.  I think the quiet ones in the beginning are sometimes the ones that go far in the game.  They kind of let the loud and macho men weed themselves out until they are the ones left standing.  I totally see that with Chris and Brad.  I'm going to have to see a couple more episodes to decide who my third top pic is.

Watch it Wednesday- The Bachelorette {Episode 2}

Today you get a double dose of Watch it Wednesday.  There was just too much on Monday's Bachelorette, and I couldn't miss out on writing about all the drama.

  • I am liking Des more and more lately.  She seems really down to earth and genuinely excited about everything.  Can you tell she feels like a princess, because she says it at least 5 times each episode.  Unless they are just inserting the same sound clip over and over again. I wouldn't put it past those sneaky editors.
  • The date with Brooks (Fabio) made me like him a little bit more.  He seems like a nice guy.  I can't tell if he will get annoying later on, but for now I don't mind him.
  • The group date was fun.  Have you seen the full rap video?  Well you should.  I'm a Texas girl, so Ben in that cowboy hat was scrumptious.
  • Is it just me or is Mikey cross eyed?  Maybe?  Just a little bit?  Bueller?
  • Did anyone else notice how Brandon played the part of "guard and protect your heart" Kasey in the video?  I totally called it!  Even one of the twitter comments at the bottom of the show said they look alike.  I think later in the show we will learn that Brandon and Kasey are actually brothers.  Or even cousins.  Shocker!  Seriously though, it's crazy how much they look alike.
  •  Let's talk about the date with Bryden (The Veteran).  Like I said before, I think he is a really good guy.  But how awkward was that hot tub kiss?  I don't even think it would have happened if Des wouldn't have broke the awkwardness by saying, "Will you just kiss me already!"  Poor girl.  That was painful to watch.  I guess he was just really nervous.  And Bryden, we all know you are an Iraq War Veteran (and I have mad respect for that), but it doesn't mean your hair still has to be.  Please, P-U-LEASE get a new style.  It would make you 150% times better looking.  My friend brought to my attention that you look like Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber, and I'm sorry to say it is true.  I promise you this is not a good thing.  You look like you have bangs.  I'm not trying to bash on you, because I totally understand how the military is strict with hairstyles.  I have family in the military, so I totally get that.  But right now, you are on National TV, so putting a little gel in your hair for a hot date wouldn't hurt.  I think Bryden will go far though.  Des really likes him, and I think he is the biggest gentleman out of all the guys.  He just needs a little more confidence. You know a guy like Bryden would stand up for you, and that's the kind of man you want on your side.

Next week looks like another promising episode filled with drama, tears, and make-outs.   Who do you think has their ex-girlfriend (or maybe current girlfriend) show up and call them out?  I think it's Ben.  Something about him doesn't sit well with me.  He reminds me of a dirty politician saying all the right words to charm his target, but something deep down tells me it's all for show.  I've also heard it could be one of my top 3 pics, Brian (the model).  I really hope not though.  He had kind of droopy eye this last week.  Hopefully it was just a bee sting or something temporary. Who do you think it will be?

Watch it Wednesday- Planes

My little boy is so excited for Disney's new Planes movie coming out this August.  (Okay, maybe I am a little excited about it too.)  He loves the Cars movies, and Planes looks like it will be very similar.  I am sure after this movie comes out, I am going to see a lot of Planes action figures and gear around my house since the film will probably come out on DVD around the holidays.  Well played Disney, well played.  Here is the newest movie trailer for Planes.  Enjoy!

Watch it Wednesday- The Bachelorette

Sorry this post is coming to you a little later in the day than usual, but there was just so much to write about. The Bachelorette started this week!  The first episode did not fall short in any way, in fact, it may have been one of my favorite first Bachelorette episodes ever.  Here are my thoughts...
  • What was up with Des pulling up in some old Honda?  I wonder if she rehearsed that, or if the producers were running out of clips to add when they were editing?  The blue Bentley was definitely a huge upgrade.
  • Des's dress....gorg!  It was sparkly and looked great on her.  I kind of want that dress now.
  • Des's hair was kind of all over the place.  Does she not have a whole makeup team?  It looked like she curled it herself while brushing her teeth and putting on mascara.
  • I thought there was too much pre-limo meet and greet talk from Des.  There was a lot of bikini roller-blading and talking with Chris Harrison, but I would have loved more cocktail party drama from the guys.
Now let's get to the guys, because that's the best part anyway. There are some hotties this season!  Also a few weirdos, but we will get to that.  Overall there is a good enough mix of guys to supply just enough love for Des, and just enough crazy and entertainment for us viewers.  It's the perfect storm for great TV.

  • The creeper (Jonathan)- WTF!?  Was this guy for real?  At first I thought he just had a bad intro with his whole date card thing, but then he would not quit.  What in his mind thought it was a good idea to go with the "Hey, come here, I want to show you something in this dark corner..." approach to getting a girl?  Good move Des on kicking that creep-o out early.
  • #theannoyinghashtagguy (#Kasey) #whotalksinhashtags #soannoying #youarenotcute
  • Shirtless Guy (Zak W)- He reminds me of a puppy that wants attention  All. The. Time.  "Hey, look at me guys!"  "Look what I can do!"  "Did you see my trick?  Huh?  Did ya?"  And the whole not wearing a shirt thing was not impressive.  Yes, you have a nice body, but you just gave it away and now Des can't sit in bed at night wondering what's under your shirt, because she's already seen it.  If you were a girl, we would call you easy.
  • Dental Guy (Mike R.)- I get when you are a dental assistant, your teeth usually look whiter and straighter than your average Joe, but whoa!  Mike R's teeth look like that episode in Friends when Ross bleaches his teeth and puts a black-light on them.  It's a little much.  And just because you wear a lab coat does not, I repeat NOT, make you McDreamy or McSteamy.
  • The Magician (Nick R.)- Some guys look good with a little 5 o'clock shadow, but Nick R. is not one of them.   His magic tricks were fun and definitely set him apart from the other guys, but any chemistry with him was gone quicker than his disappearing act with Des.
  • Glasses Guy (Larry)- I thought Larry was cute, but his personality knocked that cuteness level down a few notches every time he talked.  I did feel bad that his dance dip didn't go like the 50+ times he practiced it, but such is life.  And seriously, how many times can one person take off and put on their glasses in one night.  Someone needs to introduce this guy to something called contacts.
  • Knight (Diogo)- Does ABC hire random people to dress up in costume so they can make it look cooler than it is in their editing?
  • Soccer Stud (Juan Pablo)- How could Des not say "Juan Pablo"?  Is it really that hard?  Whatever his name is, he is hot.
  • Converse (Zack K.)- I like the fact that he wore Converse with his suit.  He seems nice.
  • The Veteran (Bryden)- I like this guy's personality, but I can't stand his hair.  Every time I saw him, I just wanted to give him new hair.  It's actually still bugging me.  I think he will go far though.  He seems nice.
  • The high-fiver (Will)- Who gives a high-five to the woman they will potentially marry when they first meet her?  Nope.
  • Kasey's twin (Brandon)- Does he not look like "guard and protect your heart" Kasey from Ali's season?  Totally does!  Evidently he is getting heat for a bomb threat he made a while back in 2005.  Not smart Kasey Brandon.
  • Fabio (Brooks)- I don't think Fabio is hot, so your nickname is not a good one Brooks. Sorry.  Maybe you should try washing your hair more often.  I think I could see the oil dripping on your scalp.  But I do like your name and you are from Salt Lake City, so deep down I am kind of rooting for you.
  •  The Dad (Ben)-  Ben's little boy was UH-DOR-A-BLE!  He reminded me of my little boy, and that tug at my heart strings a bit.  I may or may not have cried a little when Des met little Brody.  I would definitely say Ben is one of my favorites...that is until I watched the previews for the rest of the season.  It could just be tricky editing, but it totally looked like Ben was a villain this season and totally lied to his baby mama about coming on the show.  I guess we will see.
And now for my top three based on first impressions from episode 1 in no particular order.
  •  Sexy (Dan)- Def one of the hottest guys on the show.  I could have written Dan's bio myself.  "Worst Three Attributes: Taking on too much at once, always trying to please, too trusting"...this is totally me!  And his favorite actor is Leonardo DiCaprio, which means you know he is cool.
  • Shoe-tie Guy (Chris)- I thought his intro to Des when he got out of the limo and got on one knee to tie his shoe was classic.  It was done well and he seems like a very funny guy.  His tall dark and handsome traits would look good on Des's arm in the finale.  I'm no matchmaker, but she totally smiled a real smile when he walked away from her, so I think there is real chemistry potential there.
  • The model (Brian)- Brian was a former fitness model and is a member of "Good Fellas of Baltimore" which is a group of entrepreneurs that do charity for families in need.  He listed "The Rock" and "The Notebook" as two of his favorite movies on his bio, and he played baseball at the University of Maryland.  If that doesn't sell you on this guy, then this photo of him in his modeling days will.  Yowza!

Any other guy not included didn't make a big enough impression to get mentioned, or I have yet to think of a good nickname for them.  I think this is going to be a great season filled with the usual drama, tears, fights, and hot tub make-outs.  Oh yeah...and love, don't forget the love.

Are you watching?  Who are your favorites?

Watch it Wednesday- The Bachelorette

Another season of The Bachelorette is quickly approaching.  This season's bachelorette is Desiree.  She wasn't my favorite on Sean's season, but I think she was a good pick.  Something about her hair always bugged me.  I'm excited to see what kind of hunky, crazy, charming, and funny guys will be on the show.  The first episode is always the best.  Someone is always there for love, someone is always there for the wrong reasons, someone is always there for their music career, and someone is always completely crazy.  It's the best reality TV ever to make you feel better about yourself.

Jimmy Kimmel did a really funny parody of The Bachelor with The Baby Bachelor.  It is SO FUNNY!  If you're a Bachelor fan, you will love it.  I should totally sign my little guy up for next season.

The Bachelorette Season Premiere starts this Monday, May 27 at 8/7c on ABC.  Will you be watching?

Watch it Wednesday- American Idol

This week a winner will be crowned on American Idol.  This is actually the very first year I have not watched the show.  I watched the auditions, and I just could not handle Nicki Minaj.  Even Miriah Carey bugged me a bit, but I really liked Keith Urban.  I hear he is taking over Randy's spot for future seasons. I miss Steven Tyler.  He was entertaining.  Anyways, I might actually watch the finale show just to see what kind of talent there is.  That, and I want to see what inspirational song the winner sings since it will be playing on the radio non-stop for the next few months.  I think it's cool that two girls made it to the finals.  Actually, the top three contestants were girls.  It's about time a girl won!  Girl power! I hear Candice is really good.  I remember Kree a bit from auditions and liked her.  I also really like Angie, except for her hair.  Something about it bugged me. She got voted out last week, so it doesn't really matter now.  I bet she will "move on to do amazing things" and "it won't be the last time we here from her" since that is what they say to everyone who gets voted off early.  I guess I will just have to tune in and see who wins for myself.

Are you watching American Idol?  Who do you hope is the winner?

Watch it Wednesday- Redbox Review

There are some really good movies out on Redbox right now.  So, if you're looking for something good to rent, here are a few reviews of the ones I have recently seen and liked.

The Impossible

Make sure and grab some tissues, because this movie will make you cry.  It is such a powerful account of survival in such a crazy tragedy.  I really enjoyed this movie.  The acting is really well done, and it is packed with emotion from beginning to end.

Silver Linings Playbook

I really liked this movie.  It has kind of a quirky feel to it, but I love quirky.  It was a lot different than I had expected it to be, and it had a good story that kept me entertained the whole time.  Plus, Bradley Cooper is in it...so it's a no-brainer.

The Hobbit

I rented this, because I felt like I kind of HAD to see it since I saw all the Lord of the Rings movies.  I definitely thought this was a good movie as a renter.  I can see how some people say it is way better in the theaters because of all the special effects and stuff, but I am not the biggest LOR fan, so seeing it at home was just fine for me.  I think this was a good movie, but it got a little drawn out at times.  I think breaking The Hobbit into three different movies was a little over-kill, but it's all about the $$$ and there are enough fans out there that this movie will make a lot of it.

Django

With Quentin Tarantino movies, you either love them or hate them, and my husband and I are big fans.  This movie was pretty intense, but I thought it had very clever humor and great acting.  If you like Quentin Tarantino's style, you will love this movie.

Les Miserables

This movie is one of my new favorites.  I really enjoy musicals and grew up performing and watching them.  Les Miserables is a classic, and this movie was everything and more.  All of the actors were amazing in their roles, with the exception of poor Russel Crowe, but I think that was a casting flaw and not his fault at all.  He really did his best job, but I think they could have found someone else more villain-like with a stronger voice to play his part.  If you don't like musicals, this movie may not be your cup of tea.  It is pretty much all singing.  The music and acting is so raw and beautiful.  If you haven't seen it and are planning to rent a Redbox soon, this is the one you want to get.

What Redbox movies have you seen recently and loved?

Watch it Wednesday- May Movies

There are some awesome movies coming out this month that I am so excited to see.

Iron Man 3

I love all of the Marvel movies, and Iron Man is probably my favorite of them all.  Robert Downey Jr. is such a great Iron Man.  I love how witty and clever his character is.  This is going to be such a big money maker at the box office this weekend, and I can't wait to see it.  Iron Man 3 comes out May 3 and is rated PG-13.

The Great Gatsby

I remember really liking this book when I read it in middle school.  Sadly, I don't remember anything about it other than there is a character named Daisy and a red head that gets hit by a car (I think?).  Anyways, I am really looking forward to this movie coming out.  My 12-year old heart still swoons a little every time I get to see Leonardo DiCaprio on the big screen, and that alone makes watching this movie worth it.  The trailer is a good one, so I really have high hopes that this movie will be awesome.  The Great Gatsby comes out May 10 and is rated PG-13.

Star Trek Into Darkness

I'm not a huge Star Trek junkie as far as the TV series goes, but I really enjoyed the first Star Trek movie that came out a while back.  I thought it was very well done and very entertaining.  I am looking forward to the new one coming out this month.  Plus, it comes out on my birthday, so it has to be amazing.  Star Trek Into Darkness comes out May 17 and is rated PG-13.

The Hangover Part III

Bradley Cooper.  Enough said.  The Hangover Part III comes out May 24 and is rated R.

After Earth

After watching the trailer, this movie looks like it might be pretty good.  I think it's neat how Will Smith does movies with his kids.  I think having Jaden Smith in this movie will make the father/son duo very believable.  It is also directed by M. Night Shyamalan, and I usually really like his films, so I am hoping this one will be a hit.  After Earth comes out on May 31 and is rated PG-13.

Now You See Me

I am super excited for this movie.  It looks like it is going to be awesome.  I love a good thriller, and I could totally see this film being a new favorite of mine. It looks like a movie that might have a fun twist at the end.  You also can't go wrong with Morgan Freeman, and Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, and Michael Caine are icing on the cake to make this cast super sweet.  Now You See Me comes out May 31 and is rated PG-13.

Watch it Wednesday- Not So "Ready For Love"

I guess NBC was not "Ready For Love", because it looks like the show has officially been cancelled due to poor ratings.  NBC has not decided if they will air the remaining episodes, so for now the show has been put to an end.  I wasn't attached enough to the show to be really torn up about the cancellation, but I do think it kind of sucks to not get closure.  After last night's episode, I was starting to have a few favorites and I was excited to see who the guys would end up picking at the end.  I guess we will never know.  You can read more about it HERE.

On a different note, I was super excited this morning watching The Price is Right that someone FINALLY won the $100,000 playing Pay The Rent.  Pay The Rent is a newer game on the show, and although a lot of people have won $10,000, no one has won the whole $100,000.  The game is almost like solving a puzzle where you have to arrange grocery items in order, so the combination above is always a higher price than the combination below.  I was so excited to see a lady win, and she ended up winning the showcase too, making her the third highest winner ever in The Price is Right history.

Watch it Wednesday- Ready for Love

NBC has a new show on Tuesday night called Ready for Love.  As part of a survey company I am part of called Smiley360 (It's awesome, you should check it out!), I accepted a mission to watch Ready for Love and share my thoughts.  I was excited, because I was honestly planning to watch Ready for Love before I accepted the mission since I am a reality tv show junkie.

If you're not familiar with the show, it is produced by Eva Longoria and follows three juicy bachelors who get set up with women by three matchmakers.  Each matchmaker initially picks four women for each bachelor, giving the bachelors a total of twelve ladies to start with.  In the first round, the bachelors choose three women from each team by first impression introductions, but the guys cannot see the women in this round.  I liked the first round a lot, because the men were not focused on physical features.  They picked the women they liked by their personalities and humor rather than their dress size.  After this round, each bachelor has a total of nine women (three from each matchmaker's team) he gets to date.  One unlucky lady from each matchmaker's team is chosen to be in the bottom each show, and the bachelor has to choose which girl gets sent home.

I'm still not 100% sure on my opinion of this show.  At first I was a little overwhelmed and confused at the layout and how the show worked, because the first episode only featured one of the bachelors.  The second episode was a lot better, because I knew what to expect.  I really like all the bachelors they have, and they all seem like real quality men who are genuinely looking for a spouse.  The women are all beautiful, but I don't feel like a strong enough connection has been made yet for me to have any favorites.  My only complaint about the show so far would be the dating coaches.  I really like their honesty in teaching the ladies how they need to act to attract their dream guy, but at the same time I don't think a person should have to act a certain way to get someone to like them.  I get the vibe that the matchmakers are strategically putting their best in the bottom three at the end of the episodes expecting that their lady will come out on top so they have better chances of having one of their women picked in the finale.  It is almost like there is a mini reality competition between which matchmaker is the best at finding a match for the bachelors.  The odd matchmaker rivalry is not enough for me to not watch the show though.  Now that all three of the bachelors have been introduced, I am looking forward to seeing how their relationships with the women they have will grow.  I am also looking forward to seeing more of Ben Patton's handsome face (swoon).  He's my personal favorite.  I can't say that I like Ready for Love better than The Bachelor (big fan- woot!), but I can say Ready for Love has a lot of potential for being a great show for NBC.

Ready for Love airs on NBC on Tuesdays at 9-11 ET/PT and is hosted by Giuliana and Bill Rancic.  Have you watched the show?  What do you think about it?
