Did you know a crayon can be used as a candle?  Next time you are at the store, grab a package of crayons for your 72-hour kit (I like Crayola).  If you don't have a 72-hour kit, you should look into making one.  They are great to have for emergencies.  Evidently by lighting the tip of a crayon, they can stay lit for up to 30 minutes.  If you have kids, you can also get a cheap coloring book to throw into your 72-hour kit and your crayons can be used for a duel purpose.  Heck, even if you don't have kids, coloring is a lot of fun sometimes!
